On April 21, 2008, the investiture of Professor Stanley Rockson, M.D., as the Allan and Tina Neill Professor of Lymphatic Research and Medicine was announced.

" The chair will emphasize education in the research of the lymphatic system and will create a program to emphasize education in lymphatic biology, as well as state-of-the-art clinical diagnosis and therapy of lymphatic diseases." " The historical significance of this Chair and the associated efforts that are now possible, cannot be underestimated, said A. Pizzo, M.D., Dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine." We are honored to have Professor Rockson as a guest speaker at the courses in Lymphedema Management Leduc method.

The International Certification in Lymphedema Management identifies you as a highly
qualified professional in the treatment of lymphedema.

  The basic or initial course: As described in the brochure, this course provides the participants with the necessary knowledge to evaluate and treat patients with several symptoms of lymphedema (see course objectives in the brochure). 

Full completion of this course is dependent upon successfully taking its final exam.

This is a research-based certification course. 

The level 2 course has been created to give the attendees the opportunity to review the manual lymph drainage and bandaging techniques according to the Leduc method and to learn about the treatment of several syndromes including symptoms of lymphedema and/or venous edema. 

This course is not a prerequisite for attendance to course level III or Advanced course. 
In 2008 the Advanced Course was taught by:
  • Stanley Rockson, M.D., FACP, FACC, Allan and Tina Neill Professor of LymphaticResearch and Medicine, Chief of Consultative cardiology at Stanford School of Medicine.  Stanford University, California.
  • Irene L. Wapnir, M.D., Associate Professor of Surgery, Chief of Breast Surgery. Stanford University Medical Center, Stanford, California.
  • Anne-Marie Vaillant-Newman, P.T., M.A., twenty three years of expertise in Lymphedema Management Leduc method.
  • Maria Josette Mullins, P.T., Rehab Manager at Pembroke Hospital, Florida, ten years of expertise in Lymphedema Management Leduc method.

Whenever possible Professor Albert Leduc, P.T., PhD and Professor Olivier Leduc,P.T., PhD teach the Advanced course.  Please consult the brochure (click on "Seminar" and scroll down to "upcoming courses") to read about the program and the faculty for each course.

The International Certification in Lymphedema Management can only be awarded to Physical Therapists, Occupational therapists and Medical Doctors.

At the end of the Advanced course, attendees will take the ICLM Examination. Successful attendees will be ICLM certified after completion of a case study. Basic course + Advanced course + the case study represent a total of 138 hours of training.  Certified attendees will be listed as such on: www.lymphedemamanagement.com & www.lympho.net 

The New York Society for Continuing Education in Physical Therapy, Inc evaluated our different courses and assigned the following credit levels:  

On December 28, 2006, NYSCEPT awarded

·         The basic course program 4.68  CEUs.  .

·         The course level II ‘s program 2.67 CEUs

·         The advanced course program 3.6 CEUs

·         The case study 4.0 CEUs.  

So, the complete curriculum was awarded 14.95 CEUs by NYSCEPT. 

The program evaluation in contact hours indicates:

·         45 contact hours for the basic course

·         24 contact hours for the course level II

·         35 contact hours for the advanced course

·         80 contact hours for the case study:  (4.0 CEUs are the equivalent of 80 hours of work according to NYSCEPT.)

This is a total of 184 contact hours.

These are the figures that you may submit to insurance companies questioning the length of your program.

NOTE: Physical and Occupational Therapist Assistants

The physical and Occupational Therapist Assistants will be listed on the website.  We know that these professionals work under supervision of a Physical or Occupational Therapist.  It was decided to list them in recognition of their skills and to give to the public an accurate list of professionals at each facility. Every level of the training is open to Physical and Occupational Therapist Assistants.  They will be granted the ICLM certification when they complete the basic and advanced courses, pass the ICLM Examination and write a case study.
